Please use the Northampton United Methodist Church parking lot across the street. <\/strong>Our thanks to the Church.<\/p>\n<p>Old Northampton Town Hall<\/p>\n<p>851 West Bath Road<br \/>\nCuyahoga Falls OH<\/p>\n<p>The Northampton Historical Society meeting will be Monday, the 27th at the Old Northampton Town Hall. Doors open 5:30 for setup and social time and a short business meeting before the presentation. Program to start at about 7:00 Refreshments Provided. <strong>All Are Welcome<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This month\u2019s speaker will be Douglas P. Angeloni from the Friends of Fort Laurens. A historian and amateur archaeologist, Doug has assisted with all of the archaeological excavations at Fort Laurens since 1986, and is presently serving on the Ohio, State\u2019s 250<sup>th<\/sup> Commission as co-chair of the Historic Research Committee for the Fort Laurens projects at hand.<\/p>\n<p>He earned his degrees in American History and Special Education from West Liberty State and Akron Universities, afterwards teaching middle and high school history and social studies for 35 years at Brown Local Schools, Malvern, retiring in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>He is a member and volunteer with the \u201c<em>Ohio History Connection,\u201d<\/em> the \u201c<em>Ohio Archaeological Society<\/em>\u201d (O.A.S.), the <em>\u201cSugar Creek Chapter\u201d <\/em>of the O.A.S, the \u201c<em>Ohio Valley Military Society<\/em>,\u201d and the \u201c<em>Malvern Historical Society<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Douglas is an active member of \u201c<em>The Brigade of the American Revolution<\/em>\u201d (since 1984), a non-profit, educational, living history organization , and serves on the board of trustees (and was one of the founding members) of the \u201c<em>Friends of Fort Laurens Foundation<\/em>\u201d since its creation in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>-History of Fort Laurens-<\/p>\n<p>Located in what is today\u2019s Tuscarawas County, Fort Laurens was the only American Continental fort built within the modern day state of Ohio and is our states closest link to the American Revolution. Although short lived, you will hear about its history and stories that could play out like a Hollywood movie with the exception that the events and people were real, and gain a deeper appreciation for those men, and women, who suffered and fought deep in Ohio\u2019s wilderness to help create a new Nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>M onday April 27 2026 Due to construction parking is limited.
