October 2014 Meeting

For our October meeting we’re returning to our previous Monday evening schedule.

On Oct. 27, 2014 at 6:30 P.M.  Michael Kovacevich will present his newest program:  Hannibal Hamlin, Abraham Lincoln’s First Vice President & Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy under President Abraham Lincoln and President Andrew Johnson

Mr.  Kovacevich is a local, well known authority on the American Civil War. This will be a new presentation.

We will meet at 5:30 P.M. for social time and a brief business meeting, Program to begin at 6:30 P.M. It will run about an hour.

Published Article: ANDREW JOHNSON (7 Pages)

Our dues are  $5 q person and $10 for family.

September 2014 Meeting

Hi, hope you all had a great summer. Now it’s time to get going again. This will be our last Tuesday night meeting for awhile. Starting in October we’ll resume our previous Monday night schedule.

On Sept 23rd Sharon Meyers will present the History of the National Anthem. This is a new presentation and a subject that isn’t talked about very much, so it should be fun. If you would like to give us your rendition of it, the stage is yours.

May 2014 Meeting

Hello Everyone and Happy Springtime!

Our May meeting is the 20th the 3rd Tues to avoid Memorial Day, At the Town Hall 6pm to 8pm and our program will a deluxe one! Meet Abraham Lincoln in person all 6 feet 4 inches of him in his 19th century best. The professional re-enactor Gerald Payn of Wooster will bring him back from the past. A special treat for us he is a $500 value and doing us a honorarium. Let us not let him down please try hard to attend! Bring a friend, neighbor, grandchildren all are welcome.

April 2014 meeting

A Civilian Sharpshooter for the Confederacy Jack watched the opposing armies come to his beautiful “land „tween the rivers” and helped the military on both sides with aid and information, trying
maintain his neutrality. Then, without warning, the war converted Jack into an instrument of cold and calculating vengeance!

On April 22, 2014, between 6:00 pm. and 8:00 p.m., Rick and Pam Tenan will reveal the story. The Northampton Historical Soci-ety meets at the “Old Town Hall” next the fire station at the corner of West Bath and Northampton Roads. Find out what happened at the Bubbling Springs plantation and why Jack Hinson spent much of the war as a hunted civilian bearing a military bounty. Learn why the names of Jack and Elisabeth Hinson are once again spoken by people with an interest in the American Civil War!

Light refreshments will be served. This will be a family friendly event, so bring the kids.
